Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvili” is the first professional state dance academy in Georgia. Since 1945 three generations are managing the academy. In over 500 tours, National Ballet toured 5 continents, more than 90 countries, held over 10,000 concerts and over 50 million people have watched its performances.

Throughout its history the Georgian National Ballet has appeared at the Albert Hall, The Coliseum, The Metropolitan Opera and Madison Square Garden, among others. In 1967, La Scala welcomed them – reportedly the first and the only time a folklore group was given a chance to perform on its stage. The ballet integrates traditional dances and costumes from different social backgrounds, and from various regions of the country.
